9 Years old girl marries stray dog

I found out by chance today in an spanish newspaper this news, searching for more information it seems is a real story but two years old. Even today seems at least amazing.

The girl had to be married quickly to break an evil spell according to the beliefs of her Shantal tribe, in the remote village of Khanyan, about 60 Km from Calcutta.

Tribe elders said the marriage would not affect the girl's life, and that she would be free to marry again later and DID'NT NEED TO DIVORCE THE DOG.!!!!

The wedding was attended by more than 100 guest, who danced to the beating of drums and drank home-made liquor.

it's a symbolic ritual.

i think a fat man in a red suit who lives at the north pole and sneeks down my chimney to leave toys behind is pretty weird too. perpetuating this myth to children until they learn the truth on their own, now that's really freaking weird.

And just for the sake of balancing the crazy India ways as seen from outside it... I will marry a cat of 9 years.
Yeah... that should do it ...

Its just a different ritual from the familiar. The comment on Santa is appropriate. For Christmas I had to get a new face for "Santa" as my boy was commenting on why Dad was away when Santa came. I hauled the suit down the street till I reached a likely house. The fellow I had never met was incredulous that I would come out of the blue and ask. However, after 10 minutes of pleading he agreed and walked back with me in costume. Very strange, and my boy said, Santa looks just like a neighbor..

All that was missing with me and my cat was the ceremony. She was in charge. She ran the house.

Hey,

Have you heard, there was a donkey marriage in Bangalore. Donkey marries a donkey.
This is absurd, i agree. In tribal belts in India ( may be Rajasthan ), donkey marriages are performed to please the rain Gods, to ensure that the monsoon is good.

There is a community of temple dancers, and this community is called 'Dasi' community. They are attached to temples, and marry the temple diety. The community has only women.
