hey vishal, how are you now?

btw even I faced high altitude sickness problem.Keep camphore with you(in your waist pouch) and keep on smelling it.

Not to frighten anyone but there was death in SP4 batch and guy died coz of dehydration at Biskeri camp. Please drink lots of water and also have Glucon-D or electral powder mixed into the water. They serve milk(kheer, daliya) everyday in dinner, dont avoid this.get some orange flavoured small peepermints(childhood wali) ,it helps you a lot.You wont feel dehydrated.

Have food properly.Whatever they serve have it.

you will get airtel and BSNL network on higher camps, but no vodafone.Keep ur torch within sleeping bag at night to avoid draining.

Walking stick is very helpful.Get it from local market at 1st camp with some 10-15 Rs.

Keep some cold related medicines or balm(vicks),as mostly all faced running nose pb.

Try to wear waterproof/nylon track pants while sliding as this will easily dry off.follow the technique they say, they are best guides.its fun to slide on snow.

Please have good raincoat/windcheater.The climate may change at any point and mine raincoat had some pb and thanks to vishal who had extra one.

At night its too cool and cold breeze is unbearable so pls carry enough woolen things with you.Hand gloves, monkey cap, woolen socks, thermals(upper and lower),sweater/jacket.Buy all this from your local market as buying all these from kasol is bit expensive. The market has become commercial and they will cost you more.

Carry tiffin box with partitions.this will help you while carrying packed lunch and also to have dinner at the camps.

carry enough plastic bags.Put all your clothes/woolen things into plastic bags and then put into rucksack.

I'm joining the last - 2nd june group...and hearing not so good news about the trek here
People have some other priorities(work, family) and they cancel it.There is no other reason other than that. You will have lifetime changing exp after the trek.

all my friends cancelled the trek and even I was confused to continue or not but now I feel so great that I made that happen.
...so go ahead and have fun.

Good practical self experienced suggestions...

A person loses water due to long walking. Hence, YHAI tries to provide liquid in different shapes in plenty. That's why one gets Welcome drink on arrival, and bourn vita at the bed time, with some seets in dinner and daliya, etc at break fast. So, it is a good suggestion to keep taking liquid as much as possible.

The high altitude sickness has remained a regular problem. Long breathing during trek with proper break in between helps a lot. One more idea helps ask camp leaders as many questions as possible while at base camp. Those are experienced one and their advice are always helpful.

Regarding eating, once a trekker is tired, try to skip food at the first place and rushes to tents for sleep

Thanks for all the valuable suggestions, Menka & Vishal. Also, thanks for scaring me a bit i will join SP-30 batch.

How did you return from Kasol? Which bus you got, and at what time? My return train is from Ambala at 6:00 pm. HRRTC bus leaves kullu at 7:00 am in morning. When can we reach chandigarh or ambala if we get that bus? Any idea?

I couldnt find water purifying tablets anywhere, do we necessarily have to buy it? Or can we get it at kasol base camp?

I'm joining the 2nd june batch.

You should not require it either at base camp or during the trek. You would find purer water than the bottled one.

You may drink water from stream!
