The easiest option when arriving Shimla is to walk up onto the road from the station & you will see the small official taxi office on the other side, take a cab from here to the lift, the lift brings you out about 3/4 of the way up on the Mall & it's easy to walk to YMCA from here, keep going up the mall until you come to Park View cafe up some steps to your right, go up steps to church then take the path to right of church & path to left that leads to Cinema YMCA is further up this path.Take a look at the seperate cottages they have available for a reasonable rate. When in Manali check out my fave Sunshine Guesthouse. KK
Again thanks a lot Kullukid. I had wrote a e-mail to YMCA Shimla and they replied is Rs.600 for DB with attached bath (without breakfast). But I think I will go there and bargain more. Isnt it be okay? What do you think?

How far is the lift from Railway station? What a cab will charge?

I could not contact Sunshine Guest House in Manali. Please give a number. Is it near to the mall? What are the rates?

Actually, they e-mailed me and quoted DB with attached bath at Rs. 600 and with common bath at Rs. 300. Did you get an attached bath DB at Rs. 300?

It's a couple of yrs since I stayed in Shimla, from memory I stayed there once in the main building 3yrs ago which was Rs300 then 2 yrs ago in 1 of the cottages which I think was around 4-450, both had attached bath. Prices will have increased.
It's a 5min drive to lift should cost not more than 100Rs.

Fly to Shimla from Delhi for Christmas

Hi IMers. I hope I am in the right thread. I have a disabled (paraplegic) husband in a wheelchair. We will be coming to India to spend some time with my daughter who is studying in Varanasi. She wants to go somewhere quiet and peaceful and so do we. I need to know if there will be flights to Shimla from Delhi before christmas - say the 23rd to return around 27/28th - and would we find wheelchair friendly accomodation? I have a budget of about Rs5000. pn (for 4 persons). Please advise.

You need to Google Air Deccan & Jagson Airlines for timetables to Shimla. KK
