Hello Sethiyadav, just looking at the pics, they are nice . Would it be possible for you to write a small trip log (including planning, if possible) and contact info as a post in this thread? That'll be a pointer for fellow travellers. As you saw nobody had much idea, so you didn't get any serious reply

Many thanks in advance!
Did you wear the other person's shoe today?

Hi everybody,
This post is in regard to the details of our first manimahesh yatra. The holy place of manimahesh is situated in chamba district of himachal pradesh. Before going into the details of our manimahesh yatra let me introduce our group first and the functional mechanism we adopt for our yatras{which are a regular affair every year}, we are a group of 5 peoples consisting young and experienced members.Generally we include a new member every year to our touring party but those five remains unchanged, that has been the practice for many years now and people known to us start asking us months before where we are heading this time and
before the year 2009 every year our answer was one and the same that is HIMANI CHAMUNDA in the kangra district of the same state.

Our group starts working on the minute details and finally we pay heed to the basic requirements of clothing etc, we start by holding regular meetings at the interval of one or two months in the last six months from the month in which we go for the journey that is of course in addition to our regular meetings with each other in our ordinary course of interaction, let me not stray from the planning details we start by dividing the work like who will arrange the purchases which are common for the group, who will chalk out the itionary with the dates, who will be leading which work etc.

After all that all the things are discussed in our group meetings and we reach the decision on the basis of majority, even the decision to go for manimahesh was sorted in that fashion. be it a small decision or the place of journey majority is a must to finalize a matter.

Now moving to the main part of this post our manimahesh yatra, it started quite early in our minds with the uncertain whether conditions and what facilities will be there or not. after deciding on all the possible outcomes we embark on the journey on 19th October, which happens to be the bhai duj {2nd day after diwali}, this time the members were 4 instead of a customary 5, we started from delhi on the evening of 19th and reach the BHARMAUR in the morning of 20th, after reaching there we took a hotel and in the afternoon we visited THE BHARMANI DEVI TEMPLE which is a must before starting the manimahesh pilgrimage. after that we start looking for the resources we need to hire for the further journey which mainly consist of on foot tracking, we find it a little difficult to arrange the guide due to two reasons one was that we were first timer to this particular yatra and second that it was off season from the govt point of view but after trying at the mountaineering institute we contacted a local tour organizer who indeed used to ferry large groups of 20-30 people normally but on our insistence he agreed to help us and arranged the guide and night stay facilities for us. his name was sarwan{09816455505}.

Now the last leg of our journey started on the morning of 21st from HADSAR, we left our vehicle at hadsar and start the journey on foot. the next stop was at DHANCHO where we stayed for the night, at dhancho it was freezing cold and we were surprised what to expect at the manimahesh which is situated at a point which is much higher than Dhancho, we resume our journey in the morning after taking breakfast and reached manimahesh lake in around 5 hours.in the meanwhile we witnessed the beauty of the nature all along the way of our 5 hour track, everything was under the snow cover the small water falls were stand still in freezing mode now you can imagine the impact of cold due to which the flowing water was not water but ice now. another significant step in en route to journey is GAURIKUND.
Finally we reach the manimahesh lake which was completely frozen, the whether was gud that day and the view of mount kailash was truly awesome from thew lake which is situated at base of mount kailash. after performing our ritual and prayers we rome around for a while, played in the thick snow which was there and start our journey back to the base camp i must say that is DHANCHO.

overall the journey was not that much difficult as it was in our minds but still you need to be physically fit and prepared with your stuff if you wish to go,for such places you cant take chances. Finally after reaching back to bharmaur we thank our guide and mr.sarwan for their cooperation and moved to our next destination which i discussed in the start that is Himani chamunda.
