volvo tickets for delhi-shimla

what are the best options for volvo bus ticket from delhi-shimla around mid-april............. by what time should we book the tickets?

There are numerous private operators and state transport buses available. I for one always prefer to travel on the HRTC volvo-ac buses which cost about 620 per head and prefer taking the overnight which can be boarded from Himchal Bhawan or ISBT.

Book one week in advance to get better seats.

Can you buy HRTC volvo-ac bus tickets online?

I normally either get to the Himachal Bhawan and buy it on the same day or a few days before......if you know someone in Delhi then maybe thats an option you could consider?

i booked tickets from here......(25th may delhi ISBT kashmere gate-Shimla)
but its long period never experienced it..
i guess it would be a great experience..

Just tried booking for 2 seats on the same schedule May 25, 2008 (10PM) AC-Volvo bus but leaving from Himachal Bhawan but was unsuccesful 4 times. Do you know if it is accepting booking from outside India or there is a time or days when booking is accepted, now it's Saturday and around 8pm in India.

By the way, where is Himachal Bhawan and haw far is it from New Delhi Train Station? May be coming from Agra and arriving at New Delhi Train Station at around 8:30PM and will I be able to reach Himachal Bhwan on time for the 10PM bus? This is the only train from Agra after noon that seems to be on schedule on this date which will arrive before the bus schedule.

Do you know where Sarai Kale Khan bus station in Delhi? See, buses from Agra is supposed to arrive in this Delhi station and I may be able to get a bus that arrive earlier than the available train.

Also, do you know if in Shimla, taxis will bring you to Rivoli Bus station? If NO, how best can we reach Rivoli considering that we will be carrying packs and lift not operational around the time? Need to catch bus to Sarahan from this station upon arrival early morning in Shimla.

Himachal Bhawan is very near to the New Delhi Railway station. It would just take no more than 15 minutes to reach Himachal Bhawan at rush hour evening time when your train arrives at Delhi. Sometimes the auto/taxi drivers trick you by saying they don't know where HB is. Just tell them next to Mandi House. Mandi House is the headquarters of Govt. run television and radio service and no one in Delhi misses Mandi House. HB is just on opposite road of Mandi House.

The only problem with the 10 pm VOLVO for Shimla is they stop for dinner at 12 in the night. By this time your appetite is all over. Try and have dinner earlier in the train or what ever.

Advance bookings at the ticket counters is possible only one month in advance. I wud presume it's the same for online bookings. Try again around the 25th.

vasuki, Which is nearer to Himachal Bhawan, New Delhi Station or Nizzamudin Station? Is HB in Janpath?
