visit the sissu water fall !!!!!!
There is a wonderful waterfall at sissu which is around 25 Km from Gramphu on the manali leh highway. This is undoubtedly the best and most beautiful waterfall in entire north India but is still nearly unexplored. Reason is not many people visit these areas and those who visit have lil information about its existence and generally have other priorities. The obstacle to those who like venture out is that from the road the fall is not seen propely(the base is not seen) and looks just like many other fall. U need to go closer to relish its beauty. Its really impressive!!! One can walk unto the base of the fall, which will take 15-20 mins from the highway. You can also climb up to the place where the water actually strikes the ground, as the climb is not very tough.
Those with lil more ethu and stamina could even climb to the top. One shepherd climbed to the top with around 20 kgs of luggage in no time!!!!
So next time u r in that region do visit this wonderful waterfall.

The tunnel opening is near Teling, which itself is 6 km before Sisu (towards Koksar). Wud be great if one can see it while driving out the tunnel in future! But I have doubts if it's that close to Teling.
Sissue falls was fabulous, one of the best waterfalls in Himalayas.I took this pic in july last year.

A couple questions:
Is this waterfall on the north side of the Chandra river, that is the same side as the road and Sissu village? Or is it necessary to cross the river somewhere?
Is there another name for the falls that would be used locally?

Recently had an opportunity to visit the birthi falls as well. It’s tall and beautiful but the fall has been commercialized and the amount of water dropping is not very great. I could find even taller falls very close to Munsiyari. One is close to Madkote 20 km from munsiyari on JALJIBI- Munsiyari road. The other one is even more beautiful and grand, situated around 10 km from Birthi towards Thal/Bageshwar. Locals call It 'Mariana Ka Jharna'. Good part is that the water drops directly on a river flowing through its base. A great view.
The sissu falls remains unique unexplored, at high altitude with good volume of water.

OMG! what beautiful waterfalls! can anyone tell me what might be the approximate height of both these falls.. sissu would be around 50m and mariana ka jharna? very nice shots.. thanks for the info!
