Thanks Dilliwala.... I will definitely start a new thread, but please first give me a rough idea about the itinerary and the places which we can cover in this two week holiday. I know 13 days is quite a lot of time, but actually our tickets were already done, as we had planned for a Ladakh trip this summer..But considering the situation in Kashmir, we may not make that trip and that's why considering a plan B for this region...as we already made KInnaur-Spiti last summer and the western himachal ( incl. Mclo, triund, sach pass, khajjiar etc) in 2015.

So, considering we have Kol-delhi flight tkt and return train tkt from Chandigarh, I thought that we can explore in this region, entering from Dehradun or Haridwar and ending from Chandigarh. I request you and the experts in this region to please help me arrange a trip so that we don't have to stay home

Need all your suggestions please....
If you obey all the rules, you miss all the fun

The road suggested on this thread last year by Dilliwala from Kalka to Rohru overnighting at Kharapathar was very scenic and mostly resurfaced, which would be a good way to get back to Chandigarh.
But I'd cut out the idea of Dodra and Kwar as we took 5 days on that segment, from Rohru back to Rohru again, there's no through road at all, and it's very hard on the bodywork....

As Chinta said, dodra and kwar can be a little too rough. however if you are keen, would recommend going till chanshal pass top. can be covered in 02 days from rohru.
O mine is the lone trail, the hard trail, the best,
Wide wind, and wild stars, and hunger of the quest!

Have you read writersblock's blog linked in post #9? If not, do so. It's a treasure trove.

Yes, I organised it using Writersblocks great blog. I paired up with another traveller and we hired a taxi from Rohru for 4 days to Kwar return.
If you want to trek there must be a trail from Larot the biggest village below Chansal.
Also I saw from Dodra you can trek down river towards Netwar side. That's the only way they can get in/out in winter when the pass is under snow. Must be a nice trek. The locals said they do it in 4 hours. They may but we'd take longer

day 01: go till larot village and take a room for the night.
day 02: early morning start trek for chanshal pass (approx 3-4 hrs uphill). late afternoon return back. from here either have another stay at larot or you can drive down to chirgaon or rohru.

Thanks Lowkey .... Does Larot village has any homestay?... We thought of the trek to Chancal because we have 4-5 days in Rohru.... so to utilise the time we thought of making some day hikes or short treks from Rohru....

LOWKEY suggested the homestays in Larot last year but we found none at all, just a dream in the future.
Only PWD and FRH then. And the only dhaba with roti and decent hot food except for Maggi and eggs is where the bus to Dodra stops for lunch coming from Rohru about 2kms further up the road after Larot.
