Hi Everyone,
I have planned to make a trip from shimla to Kaza from 5th of April to 13th April. Planned to travel by bus. I have checked in accuweather and it is mentioned that that weather could be around 2 to -11 with flurries. So need suggestion/advice on this.

Regards,
Santhosh Kumar

What exactly do you need a suggestion/ advice on? Will the weather be cold? Yes it'd be. It may not be very accurate, what the website shows at the moment for April, as it is still a month away, but it'd sure be cold enough.

Thanks for your response. I have heard that road conditions are unpredictable from reckong peo to kaza in early April. So my concern is,if we get struck at reckong,is there any trek can be done in and around reckong peo. All i need to plan is an alternative if we struck in the middle.Do u have any idea abt accommodation as well...

That road can get closed due to heavy snow or landslides. Landslides can occur anytime but are more common in monsoons, and heavy snow is more common in Jan/ Feb. Chances of road being closed in April is not very high, but of-course can't be ruled out, plan to have a spare day while returning from Spiti.

There are several day hikes around Chitkul/ Sangla, and in-case, snow is heavy enough to block the roads, these little hikes would be very beautiful.

Can also think of visiting Pabbar valley or trek to Churdhar perhaps as an alternative.

Thanks again for your response. Seems that something could be done as an alternative and will plan accordingly.

Dear Santosh - even as on date the road upto Kaza has been opened up for smaller vehicles, but the bus service is being terminated at Tabo - so I do not think that there should be a problem in visiting Kaza in April first week.

This place is very sparsely populated, so don't count on getting cab at your convenience..
