Can any one tell the approximate dates when the Kunzum & Rohtang passes are closed for tourists?
Also please help me with telephone nos of tour operators who provide vehicles for this trip in and around Shimla. bijon |

This travelplan looks like checklist to me:
- Shimla, look left, look right, make photo, *check* - Sarahan, look left, look right, make photo, * check* ... back home: tell everyone you have been here and there, show photos as evidence. but honestly, if you rush it that much, you haven't really been there... I've seen tourists like that in the mountains, I don't believe that they had a good time...

Nayan,
I have been talking to Ramchander driver who was with you for your trip to Himachal this April. Is it adviseable to give him some advance for reserving vehicles during our October trip? Is the man reliable? Thanks in advance. bijon |

Bijon,
We had very good experience with him. He is an extremely cautious driver, a friendly guy and knows local road conditions, landmarks and accomodations very well. We had not paid anything in advance. We paid the entire sum at the end of the trip. I guess it should not be a problem if you pay him some advance(get a reciept/acknowledgement)and then call him up again a fortnight before your trip to ask what arrangements have been made. OOPS.... major memory loss...... just remembered we had paid an advance of 1000 rupees through bank transfer. Last edited by nayan : May 19th, 2008 at 15:07. |

"I have seen too much of eastern himalayas.. now is the time to see the western side. I love tea as long as it is hot. I sip it up fast" Bijon Reading the thread just one question came to my mind - are you really looking for advise on the schedule or you have pretty much made up your mind - if so let people know, so that they may focus on other questions you have not go thru you Itinerary in detail. My 2 cents of advice is if you dont have too much time then drop Shimla, as there is not too much to see there but yes if you want to tick off a few more places and add to your already impressive list of places in himalayas you have seen please go ahead.... Cheers and happy hols |
