An Indian PP is good enough. Nobody gives a damn whether you pay taxes or vote.

(Frankly, if you don't stop in Chakrata, Indian looks are good enough. And if you do, just make sure anyone with a foreign accent doesn't open their mouth )

Thanks for the comprehensive answer - onto mapping out your suggested route.

Chakrata - hmmm.. so the invisible cousins still rule the town. Don't think we will stop there after 3 weeks on the road. I'm hoping that the presence of 2 mid-level faujis in the party would help a smooth transit (will check with them for their thoughts). Thanks again.

Hi!From the reply it's quite clear that it was the other Sainj the OP had in mind. The other one is as clearly an insignificant place, hard to keep a place like that in mind. Moreover I avoid the Kinnaur route to Spiti as much as I can,so....

In/significance is a matter of personal opinion.

Hi Nayan,

Great read this one!

I understand that we can reach Manmahesh Tours via the driver Sri Ramchandra (94180 27528), correct?

If you have a separate # for the Car Agency, please provide the same. Also - is this agency located at Kalka?

Thanks a ton,

Indranil

Indranil,
Contacting Ram Chander (his actual name is Ram Chand - permit me to correct everyone)will be more than suffuicient.

My tour to Shimla-Sarahan-Sangla-Chitkul-Kalpa-Tabo-Kaza and back to Shimla last October 2008 was excellent.

I am doing the same trip this JUNE again but will be crossing over to Manali through the Kunzum & Rohtang passes from Kaza.

We have contacted him again. He has promised to tour with us again this time.

You can just refer my name to him.

Welcome to IM!

poppy, you need to be more specific. Infos like :

how many days you want to spend
how many people
whether you have any limitation (travelling with kids/aged person)
any specific interest you have
what's your way of spending (luxurious - moderate - budget - try to put an approx figure as well)

Without this I am afraid it'll be hard to help you. Please understand that IM is not our travel desk. We have to go through various inputs available on IM as well as at other sites (google is GOD!), and then refine them with the Help of IMers - many of whom have great travel experiences, some have been there etc.

Hope you would do the work the hard way through!!
