sudipto,
A rough costing 1. return tickets(flight/train)Kolkata-delhi-kolkata - 7000-8000per head(for flights)approx 2. return trip Volvo bus (delhi-shimla-delhi)-650*2 =1300 per head approx 3. chevrolet tavera hire for 10 days = 2000*10 = 20000 total 4. 1 db bed hotel room per night = 500 (can be more during peak season)approx 5. food = 100 per head per day |

Nayan,
Thanks a ton to you. Based on your article and also the information provided, I have already reached out to Ramchandra for my trip in Oct. When I started a thread recently titled "Travelling in Himachal" for my travel, people referred me to your thread. I have updated my thread with my latest plan. Pls do give me your feedback on my thread when you get sometime. Thanks again for the solid report. Suits me a lot more because even I am starting my trip from Hyd. |

I dont have the distances handy with me.
the times include lunch stops and lots of photo stops. we had expressly wished for a slow pace of driving. SIMLA TO SARAHAN - 5hrs SARAHAN TO SANGLA 4 hrs SANGLA TO KALPA 4 hrs KALPA TO TABO 8 hrs TABO TO KIBBER & BACK - depends on the time you want to spend at kaza/kye/kibber - we started at 8am and came back to tabo by 3:30 pm TABO TO RAMPUR - 10 - 11 hrs by ramchandras normal speed. RAMPUR TO SHIMLA - 3 hrs SHIMLA TO KALKA - dont know As you are going during peak season time food availability will not be an issue at all. till kalpa you will get all the vareity of food that you get in any normal restaurant in other parts of the country. In tabo/kaza variety may be slightly less bu you will still get rice, chapatty, alu parathas, vegetables, dal, momo, chowmein, fried rice etc. we had a budget of 200 per day per person and had managed to exceed that on most days.... but then we are not normal you will get by in 100 per day per person if group size is large. |

Thanks nayan.
The variety of food, it seems, will not be a problem for us. Yes, we are a group of 8 adults & 5 teens. I think food for each one will cost about Rs 150/ per day. Can u pl suggest some sites from which i can download route maps? bijon |
