trekking and weather conditions in himachal?

hi, we are heading to north india tomorrow from kerala and are hoping to do a little bit of trekking in himachal.
can anyone tell me if it is possible at this time of year?
are the roads open and do we have to be experienced trekkers? (we are not)
if trekking is a no go are there any good places to see at this time of year?
we'll be arriving in delhi on thursday and will be heading from there.
cheers,
luciano.

Low altitude treks are possible

Low altitude treks are possible. Around three or four day treks. Many options in both the Kullu and Shimla [sutlej] valleys.

short treks

Depending on your altitude, day temps betwn 15 to 8 deg Celsius.

Nights btwn 6 to 2 deg. Some places at zero degs.

Both places offer many short treks, just ask around at Manali or spend some time on IM trekking branch... its all there.
