Direct buses to Kasauli are very less. Not sure about the timing, check out the state transport website for timings. Best option would be to take any bus headed to Shimla / Solan and get down at the Kasauli bifercuation at Dharampur. This is very near to the Dharampur police station and the famous Giani ka Dhaba. Dharampur bazaar is further 2 km from this point. You will get buses and cabs from this point to Kasauli. It is just 15 minute drive to Kasauli from this point.
And yes.. buses to Kasauli and anywhere into Himachal leaves from Sector 43 bus station.

It is curious though that on the Himachal state transport website - Kasauli is not even given as an option in the drop down menu. Is it because only private buses go to Kasauli? |

There are no private interstate buses in Himachal. They only ply within the state

There is a Punjab Roadways (I think) bus which goes to Kasauli. It starts in Sangrur then via Chandigarh it heads to Kasauli. We caught it a few years ago from Kasauli to get to Chandigarh.
The punjab roadways timetable is not working so can't check the timing. |

Hop on to any shimla bus from chandigarh and get down at Dharampur (1 hr from kalka). From there you will find regular shared jeeps and buses to kasauli Also there are direct buses to kasauli but they are few and far between. so trying the above option is better |

Hi
I have just returned from a very enjoyable trip to Kasauli. I am thankful to all who answered my questions. All the information provided by these members was very helpful. I would like to add a few extra points to the information already available. As far as I could find out (from a conductor at the Kasauli bus stand) these are the answers to the questions I asked: 1. From which bus stand in Chandigarh does one get a direct bus to Kasauli? A: From Sector 43 (already mentioned by Vasuki) 2. What is the frequency of these buses. There is only one direct bus to Kasauli from Chandigarh, (as pointedout by Shere (the bus route is Sangrur-Chandigarh-Kalka-Kasauli)) it reaches Kasauli around 12.15 pm. 3. When is the first bus in he day and when is the last bus? Answered above 4. What is the frequency of buses from Kalka to Kasauli. There are 3 buses in a day from Kalka to Kasauli. One in the morning one in the afternoon and the last one reaches Kasauli around 5.30 Additional Point: As pointed out by all other members the best route to Kasauli is is via Dharampur. From Chandigarh one should catch a bus that is going either to Shimla or Solan and get off at Dharampur. From Dharampur one gets frequent local bus to Kasauli. These buses ply on short routes like Kasuli-Solan-Kasauli etc. As far as I could find out there are no buses after 6 pm. So one should ideally plan for a day journey. |
