Travel Plans to Manali in Jan 2011
Hi,
Am planning a holiday to Manali in Jan 2011 (11th -17th Jan). I will be accompanied by my parents.
I am planning to fly to kullu by kingfisher airlines. I don't really have any major sightseeing plans. We've been to manali before.
But just wanted your inputs on a couple of points:
1) what kind of temperatures can we expect at that time?
2) My dad is 70 yrs of age and has slight heart problems. Does the weather in any way pose any problem to the aged?
3) How reliable are kingfisher flights to kullu?
4) We are plng to stay at Highland Park and Baikunth Magnolia. Any inputs on the hotels??
Would appreciate your advice on the above...
Thanks
Tweety.

The Increased elevation and consequent thin air probably more than the cold whether might trouble your father. Better take advice from your Dad's Cardiologist.
hi..
Thanks for your inputs guys..
I have now decided to add Shoja to my plan as well if the banjara camps retreat is available. I know its not really the best time to visit shoja at the peak of winter. but just wanted to check with you guys.. will it be too bad?? will it be so bitterly cold that we won't be able to get out even during the day.?

Manali & Shoja would be extremely cold. Flights to Kullu are not that regular in the months of Jan so you must be prepared for an alternate plans. High land park is a nice hotel but has certain limitations (you can check my review). Also the glass chalets of highland park would not be able to keep the cold out & a room heater would also not be that effective as it was quite cold even in May when i had visited.
