Hello People

I wish to travel the kalka - shimla toy train - the one that leave at 5:30 in the morn, however due to time constraints want to get down mid way. Is it possible to do so and will i be missing on something if i dont travel the entire route?

Barog is a good place for getting down midway. You would get a good view of the forestation and valleys and also a taste of one the longest tunnels on the track. The station itself is a good example of old English architecture, and has a very popular 'snacks' shack - samosas are lovely.
Only thing is that you would need to walk half a Km up to reach the main road and catch a bus to Shimla.

I've travelled this route a few years back & aside from the long tunnel, I don't think you'd be missing too much.

It was certainly a nice journey but, it's nothing on the Darjeeling or Ooty trains.

this journey is really one of the best journeys u will ever undertake. that is a promise u will certainly remember it for a long time.

according to michael palin's Himalaya series there is a "kissing tunnel" somewhere along the track. do you catch any action??
