Tour Of Lahaul-Spiti & Kinnaur -- Clockwise Or Anti-clockwise ??

Dear Imers /..

Planning To Visit Lahaul Spiti And Kinnaur In The Month Of July ..probable Duration Is 8 To 10 Days ..

Pls Advise Regarding The Following ..

Which Is A Better Option ?? --- Doing A Clockwise Jeep Safari Starting From Manali And Finishing At Shimla Or An Anticlockwise Safari Starting At Shimla And Finishing At Manali ???

Can Someone Please Tell Whether There Is Any Difference In The Cost Of Jeep Hiring If The Journey Is Commenced From Manali Or Shimla ??

Regards //

Hi! I did the trip in both directions and in my opinion it's the same, clockwise or anticlockwise. The cost of the jeep should be the same in Manali or Shimla, around 2100 RS a day for a jeep for a day last year. But Shimla is closer to Delhi than Manali, and you can go all the way by train.

Don´t know how much time you are investing in this , but going from Shimla gives you a gentler acclimitization. First night out from Manali is minumum 3200, first night from Shimla is between 2200 and 2800.Going from Manali your highest nights will come in the beginning , from Shimla the other way around.

To me that seems like a two parter : can you get permission to come anywhere near Shipki La , and if so , where. There is a long thread on the Hindustan-Tibet road , where someone mentions coming east of Sumdo , but it didn´t sound easy.

The actual pass is the border : no way, is my spontaneous reaction.

I'll plan for a trip in 1st week of July from Chandigarh to Manali and back to Chd via Shimla-Kinnaur-Lahul & Spiti (include trek to Chandertaal Lake). Need help in planning for the same. As for now we decided:
Day 0) Reach Narkanda and halt (leave Chd on friday eve)
Day 1) Reach Chitkul
Day 3) Stay at Chitkul and roam around
Day 4) Reach Kalpa
Day 5) Reach Kaza
Day 6) Stay at Kaza and roam around
Day 7) Reach Batal/Kunzum La (Complete trek)
Day 8) Reach Manali
Day 9) Move to Chd

Please suggest if you have any better suggestions.
TIA.

The plan SEEMS TO BE OK as u r travelling on a tite schedule //
You can halt on DAY 1 at SARAHAN if u can make it /// DAY 5 seems to be ambitious (keep MALLING in mind)!!! DAY 2 IS MISSING IN UR PLANS

IMERs Pls Clarify Me On This .,,

If I Have To Go To Shipkila Is It Compulsory That I Should Go Through Tashigang ??? Is That The Only Route ??

As Far As My Recollection Of What I Read There Are Two Toutes To Shipkila:

1. Puh - Namgya - Namgya Dogri - Tashigang - Shipkila

2, Nako - Tashigang - Shipkila

Pls Correct / Guide Me If Iam Wrong // Uttam ,, I Suppose U Have Been There !!!

What Is The Time To Reach Shipkila From
1. Namgya
2. Nako

Regards
