Tirthan Valley in Himachal Pradesh
Tirthan Valley in Himachal Pradesh
Visited Tirthan Valley at Himachal Pradesh with my family in June 2012. A secluded place in the tranquility of nature for the nature lovers who want to stay away from the maddening crowd. Stayed in the Tirthan Valley Resort, situated on the bank of gushing and chilling river Tirthan.
There is no accessibility of road at the doorstep of the resort. We had to park our car and take the trolley ride to cross the river and reach the resort. The attendant gave us a good ride and the children couldn’t resist themselves from going back and forth on it.
After reaching the resort we were given a very warm and hospitable welcome by the owner Bhupinder Singhji and caretaker cum cook Bhuvan. The weather was very pleasant throughout our stay.
The resort has just 5 rooms with porch and balconies with an excellent view, we woke up in the morning with the chirping sound of birds and soothing sound of water flowing over the rocks.
One can spend the day simply lazing around, playing different outdoor and indoor games or try their hands on rock climbing, river crossing (our experience says it’s better than Manali) arranged by the resort. The cook Bhuvan used to make excellent homely food with desserts for us served at different venues as per our choice be it on the river bank, near the bonfire or on the porch.
Though extremely chilling but a dip in the river Tirthan is a must. We started the competition, on seconds’ basis, of sitting in the spine chilling water. Not to wonder my son 9 years old, won it. People interested in fishing can catch trout fishes as it’s very famous for it.
Apart from us, 4 other rooms were occupied by a group of families, so we decided to go on the Serloskar lake trek with them otherwise the kids would go have got bored. Trek to Serloskar lake starts from Jalori pass which is an hour’s drive from the resort. It’s a 4-5 km trek one way. The lake in the valley surrounded by mountains on all the sides gives a heavenly experience and since we reached their at lunch time the cook Bhuvan had packed enough food for us to have it there. We hired a godiwala for my 5 year old daughter.
Though our stay was only for 3 nights, full of different activities, I wish if I could have stayed there for a longer period. Next time I am definitely going to visit this place but along with my group of friends.
Tirthan valley resort is around 8 hrs drive from Chandigarh. From Aut instead of going straight to Kullu one has to take a right to Banjar. From Banjar 15 minutes uphill is the resort. As there are pnly 5 rooms one needs to book well in advance.
