Thamsar pass, Kali Hain Pass -- need information

I need some information about passes between Manali and Bara Bangahal (I suppose make trek through Kali Hain Pass) and Thamsar pass (Bara Bangahal -- Palachak Deota).

How well marked this passes and routes? Can I have this trek without guide?
Is crampon required for this passes (September)?

May be anyone have information about Beas Kunde pass as alternative to Kali Hain Pass?

Thanks!

Kali-Hirni,Thamsar, Manali, Tentuka Pass for Manali to Barabangal

In September generally you won't need any crampon even for Manli , or, Tentuka Pass. and for Kali-hirni (Kaliani / Kali-hain) & Thamsar there is no need of Crampons anytime of the year.

The easiest one is Thmasar pass. which is well frequented and possible without any guide. but the other passes you will need a guide. it could be difficult for you to find out the actual direction from the top of Kalihirni pass.

Last year while on my way to climb Hanuman Tibba we crossed Tentuka Pass by the traditional way (nowadays all the people take soem rocky route). We were without guide and had an accident. One of our porter had a smashed calf muscle by falling stone. so he got back after two hours from Beas Kund. Then on the top of Tentuka pass we had a slip on the hard ice gulley. I could save the lie of the fellow climber but I had one broken rib and still we continued through white out and reached the other side. next day we decided not to go back the same route. so we went down using my brain picture of Google earth & Map-reading. and went down to Ravi river. then we crossed a not so wellknown pass known as Tnatgari. which could be adjoined with Manali Pass over Manali. this too not so well known. But my HAP was not ready to cross that Manali pass. they were scared and we were running short of food. Wewent down to Kaliani river junction. and finally once again went up with the help of a shpherd family to Kali-hirni pass. and down to Patlikul. We were lucky to find that Shepherd family to survive . I was lucky that I could remeber the Map printed in my brain and helped by the God. Don't take these pases soeasy. September could be difficult for falling stone. Anymore question ask me.

Thanks!

Can I have only one local guide (without porters, with tent for himself) for this trek in Manali or Bara Bhangal (for opposite direction)?
And what time I need for this trek? (I have only two week for all)

And what about Chobu pass (or may be Nikora) from Bara Bangahal to Kugti? Is this one easy for treking without guide?

Sorry for broken English

which route you are planning to do?

it depends on that. I think yu can do that Thamsar pass only in that way. because for carrying the tent and food for 6 / 7 days minimum for that kali-hirni route. and 10days minimum for other routes you need a lot of supply. And the guide will not carry that much load.
for Kugti from Barabangal. it is really atough route. and from sishu it is crossed only by soem very few guides. very difcult to find them
and for that trentuka you wil need the guide and two porters at least
why don't you want to take guide
what is your actual date?
How much money is your budget. send me pvt. msg. or mail to my adddress

Unhappy

I don’t like have guide and porters, but in this trip (10-24 September) I’ll have with my friend – he hasn’t trekking experience, and I’d like simple trek in this time. (We can carry our staff ourselves – it’s easy for us).

Can you recommend something well marked, but not very crowded in this area? It’s very hard find fine maps for India …
