.....

Day 1 5.00 AM Reaching Kalka ; 7.30 AM Leaving for Sarahan [170 Km] by Private vehicle. reaching there by 5 pm - Night halt at Sarahan Bhima Kali temple
[I need advice if I should think of a night halt in Shimla first,or can Sarahan be reached in a day from Kalka? I don't need any sight seeing or halt in Shimla/Rampur/Sarahan/Sangla/Kalpa/Chitkul though.I heard another alternative route via Kotkhai -- Sungri -- Taklesh to Sarahan from Kalka is available,I need more information if that is more adventageous or not.]

............

I would suggest you include a night halt at Sangla and see Sangla & Chitkul.......... they are too good to miss

Also you don't need ILP to visit any place in Himachal (if you are an Indian)........ we visited Tabo Kaza in April and it is not requried for Indian........ so you can skip the day in Shimla

your firs few days itinerary can be like this if you start early morning each day

day 1 - kalka to sarahan

day 2 - sarahan to sangla (and sightseeing at chitkul)

day 3 - sangla to Nako/Tabo......... after Nako (and Mallignala) the road is descending and wider, so probably you can drive plan to drive till Tabo ........ seeing lake at NAko will take maximum 30 mins

{ Will Kargil be a good place for a night halt? May I visit Gurudwara Pattar Saheb;Magnetic Hill;Lamayuru;Moon landscape on my way to Kargil?}

Kargil is a god place for night halt

gurudwara patthar sahib, magnetik hill and Lamayuru are on teh way to Kargill

Consult with local drivers to know about timings of army convoy leaving from Kargil........local jeeps normally start before convoy starts or otherwise you are delayed by 5-6 hours because of convoy

Thanks a lot for your response khak. Well,I have already done the Shimla-Rampur-Sarahan-Kalpa-Sangla-R.Pio-Chitkul a few months back,so I am keen on doing the next part, besides,I have to reach Leh within 8 days; So,I would have to visit as much things possible before that in Spiti.

Can you all please tell me,as per my Itinerary, can I accomodate to put Pin Valley? If yes, how and when?
Is staying in Dhankar or somewhere else would be helpful ?And which are the places to see in the Pin valley?

Dhankar would not have decent accomodation, though you can stay in the monastery itself, Tabo would be a better idea as you can cover both Dhankar and Pin valley from there , if you make Kaza your base you'd have to backtrack and come to Kaza again.
Pin valley has some Gompa's like Kungri and villages like Mikim , Sagnam and Mudh.

Hi

Sarchu is a valley without any inhabitants or shops. But during the season you will get Tents. 2007 May 31 night i stayed here in a tent. The cost was 1000 Rs for a night. You can get cheaper accommodation too. Since I was with my family I took a two bead tent with attached toilet.
