Suggestion required for a journey in HP

Hi guys,
I was supposed to go to Ladakh in a week, but I feel I have to change my plans, due to the terrible situation over there. I am so sad for the people over there.
I am going to fly to Delhi on the 14th of August.
Do you have any suggestion for a journey in HP : Rishikesh, Haridwar, Gangotri.... what else?
Could you provide any information about trek in Gangotri?
Many Thanks in advance.
I am a bit confused right now...

The places you've mentioned are not in HP, read this thread for itinerary of HP plus Haridwar Rishikesh.

Thanks for the replies.

Just another question: is this (August) a good period to visit those places? Or is it raining also over there?

The last 2 wks in Aug is the back end of the monsoon in North & it starts to head southward. I'd suggest going to Rishi Haridwar 1st week then head up to Shimla D'sala maybe even Manali for last wk in Aug when things should be getting much drier???
How long are you going for?KK

Fra,

Clearly it is sad that such a tragedy has to happen in Leh. I really hope things get better at the earlies.

You are however going to miss out on the most wonderful trip in these part of the country. There is another really great place in Himachal that is not quite as popular but it is my favorite and it is called Great Himalayan National Park. There are some posts about GHNP on this forum but you can also do a Google search and find out more about it.

Go there if you are keen on trekking and camping. We absolutely loved it and it was a superb experience.

Enjoy your trip.

Cheers!
