| ABN999, Trip report : kinnaur spiti tour - april 2008 is also a very informative article/thread. And I found that you are already looking at many other related threads, and getting reposnses, so I'm sure, you'll shortly be able to finalize your plan!

| Last month i have completed this circuit with my friends on Enfeild as there were no rains so the road condition was OK, i always suggest you to carry all the spares of the bike along with you as in some parts there are no roads.. and specially after the rains the road condition comes to the worst, sometimes it might take 3-4 hours to cover 7-8km of distance in such a conditions. It will be good if you carry your own tents on the places like this but always take an overview of a place before pitching it, better not to book the hotels in advance if you carry your own tents. You can easily get some cheap hotel at these places . As you are going to ride on some of the worlds toughest roads your plan should be systematic and be ready for the worst... well that's a fun of it ;-) Best of luck..... Regards, Anand[/QUOTE] Hi, As mentioned in the post by Indra above, Nayan's trip report and its subsequent posts would help you a lot. Just to add a couple of pointers, being back home not even a week, some response to your queries: 1. Tabo - you would find a couple of quite decent hotel - Chango and Sumdo, I have my doubts, hotels not apparent. Nako is another option of stay (around 3hrs from Tabo). 2. Some camping available on hire - although limited. Better carry your gear (just in case all tents are occupied). 3. Kaza to Losar - road condition relatively good and you can make it in around 2hrs time. From Losar onwards to Chandratal, the road condition progressively worsens. It took us (4 + driver in a Tavera) around 2.5hrs to reach ChandraTal from Losar. 4. This stretch the road condition is aweful till (say) Kothi, which is near Manali (I am talking abt last to last Sunday, i.e. experience 8days ago). It took us almost 8hrs to do this trip, with intermittent breaks (take 2hrs out, at a max). So, around 6hrs. 5. Malling was fine - needed just very careful driving. 6. The places where you indicate night stay in your itinerary, your would get HPTDC properties at Rampur, Kalpa, Kaza and Mandi. So, for the rest you anyway have to look for private hotels. Hunt around this site, would get quite a few recos. I stayed at HPTDC at all places apart for Baspa valley, wherever I halted. 7. Cant say - all pre-booked. My idea for car rental would be around INR 2300 per day for Chandigarh to Chandigarh. Add some extra for ChandraTal. Ballpark 25K. HTH, Regards |

| hi indra, reo purgil (hope thts how they spell it) and kinner camps (on bank on nako lake) are the most apparent ones. November being close season, probably everything was closed. However quite a few guest houses as options. and no, didnt stay there. regards p.s I think lavon guesthouse and galaxy guesthouse - those were some GHs just opposite RP. Had breakfast at RP, nice food though - extensive menu. Last edited by apputim; Jul 14th, 2009 at 16:53.. Reason: gotcha - names of hotels |

| Hi Anand, may I suggest getting in contact with a man called Sanjay Saigal. He is based in Delhi and he was very helpful to me on my first trip to India, and my Dad has used his help on quite a few Indian holidays. He has a lot of contacts, gets cheap car rental and has great hotel recommendations. And he is a lovely man to boot. Tell him that Robyn Jarman referred you as he has become somewhat a long distance family friend since my fathers and my last trips. His email address is indiaexpeditions@hotmail.com Good luck, I am sure he will be of help to you. Robbiej |
