Absolutely, this is an invaluable thread with so much information, that you won't be able to get so easily. I requested once that it should atleast come up in Himachal Forum.

Sorry for the delayed answer. I have travelled those areas in month of september. Kunzum pass became closed on first week of october. Yes, there is only a single bus service from Kaza to Peo. And the good thing is around the year this road remains open (as I was informed by the local people who told us to visit Kaza in month of January!!!)
With best wishes,
Krishnapriya

Excellent trip report, Krishnapriya!!! Loads of information... I am making the trip in September this year. But cannot stay there for 20 days (I wish I could!) The hotel/homestay list will surely help me. Will ask for few more details soon

This is such an informative post, specially for people who are willing to travel on a budget! I have requested the moderators to move this to the HP forum and make this a sticky! This thread will certainly help a lot of people. Excellent post. Although this is an old thread, the info is timeless.

Hello Varabi,

My plan is to start from Shimla, and then traverse through Kinnaur, then Spiti and finally cross Lahaul, and end the tour at Manali. It would be around 12-13 days. We will not be able to go to Keylong, Udaipur though.

I have planned something like Shimla-Narkanda-Sarahan-Sangla-Chitkul-Kalpa-Nako-Giu-Tabo-Dhankar-Lallung-Pin valley-Mudh-Kaja/Rangrik-Ki-Kibber-Tashigang-Komic-Langza-Losar-KUNJUM PASS-CHANDRA TAL-Batal-ROHTANG PASS-Manali.

Since Kunjum La is included and Chandra Tal is a must attempt, will require to go there around 4th week of Sept and complete the trip by Oct. 1st week.

Krishnapriya's trip report gave me some important telephone nos. and budget hotel names. That's excellent I must say!

Hello Pritham Kamath,

I have already posted about my interest in travelling Lahaul and Spiti by bus this september. I have been looking for details regarding the bus connectivity in this region. I will be landing in Shimla and would be starting from there. I needed info regarding the Bus connectivity. It would be great if you could help me with your plan and how you went about it.

Thank you in advance

Hello basuayan53,
Actually I have travelled that part of HP long back in 2010. I donot know whether the timing of bus services remain same or have been changed. You can only get the information from Kaza bus stand. In 2010, there was only a single bus left daily for Kibber at 4 PM. For Komic, buses usually ply alternate days. But you will get something to come back to Kaza hitch hiking was quite common on those days; even we have travelled a few kilometers from Shishling towards Mudh sitting back of a truck.
Sorry, I could not help you. Have happy journey.
with best wishes,
Krishnapriya
