Hi, I remember Manali from 15 years a go when it was a paradise but sounds it's gone into the inevitable party scene/ buildings scenario. Is there somewhere near Manali that is quiet that an older woman like myself would like with scenery? I want quiet and nature. Any suggestions anybody please?

Very definitely....Banjar Valley. Just turn right before Aut tunnel, between Mandi and Kullu. There are various homestays in that area, or Doli Guest House in Jihbi. Tirthan Valley is off-shoot of Banjar Valley with places to stay too. Very quiet and beautiful scenery, but suitable only if you like to chill, read and walk. When are you going?( Iīll be there end June hopefully)

As I said before, whatever bus you are on ( to Kullu/Manali) you get off it(not in middle of the night though!) right where Aut Tunnel starts and wait there at the dusty crossroads until bus goes towards Banjar/Ani. To Banjar town itīs about 1 hour. From there take taxi ( maximum 150-200rs) to Doliīs in Jihbi. Itīs cheap and a good place to explore if you want to find a more exclusive/even quieter place and Rana the boss has long experience in the area.

I personally prefer to stay 2 kms further up the valley at Shringi Vatika which is a superb hideaway and the owners great friends of mine. Their 3 rooms do not come cheap, but the food is, so what you lose on the swings.....
Are you going there now-ish? If you are could I send you a Personal Message to give the owners at Shringi?

PS If you are lucky and board the bus to Ani (other side Jalori Pass) you get off directly outside either Doliīs or Shringi Vatika. No taxi needed as both are on the main road. SV is just at end of Ghayagi village, about 2kms past Jibhi.
