so what happens

just returning from a trip to manali and solang just in time it seems i have a question. Here in canada 60 cms of snow may fall..this amount is enough to paralize a region thats dealt with snow for centuries...what the "freak" happens when 150-200 cms fall on a region like upper Kullu. it must be total chaos..
for transport...hydro... and how long was this storm...can you even breath while this much snow is falling????

A couple of years back thers were snow storms and avalanches in Kasmir valley. The whole valley remained cut off by road for days together, with food shortages and power breakdowns. Life is often full of hardships in snow-bound regions in India.

200cms is not out of the ordinary?? i still can imagine happens to manaili...do rickshaws have chains.. what about shimla it is in a region thats prob hit often with freezing rain.
Ice storms are not fun...my region of quebec was hit with mother nature's icing back in 1998 we where without power and water for 36 days.....
one last question how has global warming affected this region? any meteorologists in the house?

But here is the relavence.
There is a saying in India, that when a Cat is about to about to attack a Pigeon, the pigeon closes it's eyes just hoping that the worst will be over. Instead of doing something to save it's life it just turns a blind eye to the threat, as a result it becomes a meal for the Cat. I meant that the attitude of the Americans towards Global Warming is similar to the Pigeon.

Ahh, thanks for that: I'd never heard it before.

All the pigeons I ever see have their eyes very wide open for chances of food or sex!

Is that why the males seem only interested in sex and the females only in food?
