go from mt abu to jaisalmer via barmer. from jaisalmer come to jodhpur and from there take the night train to delhi. you should have about a weeks time for himachal pradesh. |

You can do this in the time - go to McLeod Ganj - Dharamsala area in Himachel and you will see the Dalai Lama's residence and the Buddhist temple there. That should be interesting for you with your Buddhist studies. Take an overnight direct train from Delhi to Pathankot and from there take either a bus or taxi up to Dharamsala. I suggest you stay in McLeod Ganj because the temple etc. are in easy walking distance from there.

the best way to go to mcleodganj from delhi is to take a direct overnight bus. and there are no trains between varanasi and jaipur. you will have to change trains in jhansi or gwalior or some such place.

Well i would suggest you to drop rajasthan at this time of the year unless you want to evaporate in thin air with scorching heat.
Make it to Himachal Pradesh its the best bet i can put my money on. cheers |

If you are going to Himachal and want to visit Buddhist places you should go to McLeod Ganj fom where you can travel 20 mins to Gyuto monastery to see HH Karmapa. Travel to Bir for a day or two and visit the monasteries there as well as Sherab Ling monastery. Tso Pema/Lake Rewalsar is one of the most amazing places I'veever been, particularly the caves. It's a day trio from Mcleod/Dharamsala.
