Visiting Shoja

It sure is, just keep it early in October before the winter really sets in and impacts road travel. Its a great place, dunno where you plan to stay but I recommend the Banjara Retreat at Shoja.

Shoja Banjara Retreat

Actualy, Banjara just built a new hut with excellent large rooms and fantastic views. If can get rooms in the new hut and you will love your experience.

Also, do not forget to order trout for your evening campfire, at Shoja you get frest trout straight from the Terthan river. Have fun.

Hi

Hi,

nature Life in Gyaghi is a great place to stay ... 6 kms frm shoja .. though Banjara is expensive and great .. it does nothing for the local populace there ... my opinion ... October is a great time in the autumn ... I would rather suggest staying at Gushaini at Raju's guest ... worth the rustic experience and out of the world food and makin a day trip from there t discover the valleys ...

cheers

Totally agree with Dhananjay. It has to be Raju's at Gushaini. Forget Banjara!

That's right u can go via Mandi/Aut, or also via Shimla to Sainj then Ani/Jalori Jot.

Don't know about accom in the area as I haven't been yet , but another member mridula has been to a small place in Ghiyagi, which is near Shoja, and recommended it highly. U can read about it in her blog, which is mentioned in this thread:
Shringi Vatika, Himachal Pradesh

Doesn't say anything about rates, but u cud ask mridula in the above thread. Cheers.

Ani Jalori Jot Shoja Road

Hi

Has anyone used the road to Shoja via Ani and Jalori pass. Am interested in knowing the road condition and if their are any interesting places to stop enroute.

Regards

Sanjit

The road is fine till Khanag from Luhri. Khanag is 5 km before Jallori Pass. From Khanag to Shoja the road is pretty bad. Avoid cars on this stretch. Jeeps, Qualis etc is recommended. There is a rest house at Khanag where you can stay.

Shringi Vatika was Rs 400 per night in December without any bargaining. In October it should not be crowded but still it helps to call as they have a limited amount of rooms. If there, ask for sweet rajma, nettle soup and Sidhu. And if you go there, say hi to the folks there.
