Hi
We are travelling from Shimla to Manali in March and hoping to ski when we get to Manali. Anyone got any ideas for best way of travelling to Manali and any experience of skiing at that time of year?

By bus or cab.

Skiing might be possible in Solang Valley.

Manali to amristar

Hi we are travelling around currently and are in shimla heading over to manli. After that we need to get to amristar. Are there any trains from manali to amristar or is it a bus or cab?

Certainly no trains at all in Manali.

We got to Amritsar in 1983 by bus from Dharamsala, I think the journey time from Manali to Amritsar would be more than one day? You may have to change buses.
Why not visit the Shimla bus station, as you are there now, and ask for bus route info?

From Manali there are comfortable buses running to Delhi which are via Chandigarh .. Chandigarh with train (4½ hr) to Amritsar.

Or for scenic, a whatever combination of regular local buses, with perhaps a stop at Baijnath.

Although decidedly erroneous, incomplete and with wild times/prices for taxi/drive .. nevertheless a fun tool for beginners.

There is a HRTC Volvo bus from Manali to Amritsar. See http://www.hrtchp.com/hrtctickets/Availability.aspx

I have no idea. May be so that travelers can sleep more comfortably compared to other buses. Another could be due to reduced traffic.

There are existing threads on Manali-Amritsar or vice versa, which a quick search would have revealed:
