Shimla to Delhi
by bus, how often do buses leave Shimla, we'd rather not train as the Himalayan Queen doesn't get in to Delhi 'til late like 11pm, I've heard, I guess bus services are every few hours all day?
Thanks in advance for advise. bigjed |

Yes buses to Delhi will be every couple of hours but if you want to save sometime i would suggest that you catch a bus to Chandigarh and then from there catch one to Delhi.
The frequency of buses between Shimla - Chandigarh and Chandigarh - Delhi will be much higher than a direct connection between Shimla - Delhi.

thanks - I had also considered that. We have also considered a taxi to Chandigarh and a train to Delhi, a taxi would mean we could leave early as in the morning!

I think your idea of taxi to Chandigarh and then train to Delhi is a good one. I've done this with two small kids in tow and it's a piece of cake. The train leaves chandigarh at 07.30 in the morning and gets in just before 11am. Happy trails! Hazel |

I always caught a local bus Rs90 leaving at about 1.30pm from Shimla to Kalka, taxi is an option for around Rs2,000. Then at Kalka the Shatbdi at 4.30 arriving in Delhi about 9.45pm. All very easy and so much quicker.
Alternative I normally used returning as I commuted a lot was catch the HRTC Volvo a/c for about Rs900, they leave at about 8.30 am 9.30 am from both Shimla and Delhi and I think 7.00pm, 8.00pm 9.00pm from Delhi. |
