Hi Folks,

Planning to complete a solo Shimla-Kaza-Shimla on bike from December 25th.

Any inputs on packing the essentials and what-to-expect from the terrain.

Will be taking RE Himalayan for the trip and have ample time to spare in case of road closure. At this point in time I can see road is closed down on google maps and forecast also hints towards possible snow during the last week. In case it does what to expect and where to to find refuge.

And yes, anyone interested?

Cheers!!

Bike ride to kaza is seriously not recommended in winters. apart from regular snow, black ice and such things are real worry on this road. only 4WDs do this route in winters. for a 2 wheeler can be real tricky. but in case if you have decided, keep fuel your first priority. also limited accommodation options will be available. do not start before 10 am in the mornings to avoid ice covered roads. carry a big battery bank as mobile will be your only contact to outside world (BSNL is recommended). charge it whereever possible as light cuts are very frequent in winters. also carry a good sleeping bag.
O mine is the lone trail, the hard trail, the best,
Wide wind, and wild stars, and hunger of the quest!
