Hello guys...
I am going for a trek to Rupin Pass in May 2015. The terminating point of the trek is Sangla from where we need to reach Shimla in order to return home. I heard that there are buses available from Sangla to Shimla, but I am unable to find out the schedule. If anybody has any information about it, kindly share it here. It is important in order to finalize our itinerary.

I am preferably looking for an evening bus service which will reach Shimla in the early morning. Anyway, full bus time table is the best thing to get.

Please help me!

It seemed a tough road in daytime as it is, so I doubt there will be night buses, but of course can't say for sure . But a day journey would be beautiful to see, especially with the Sutlej roaring by.

You'll have to stay the night in Recong Peo and change buses. Sangla to Peo is about 5 hours and there's a bus post lunch from Chitkul (about 2 pm from Sangla). From Peo, there should be an early bus at 6:30 am from what I recall.

as far as I know there are no direct buses to Shimla form Sangla. You'll need to reach Shimla - Peo highway (i forgot name of the point) and from there are a few buses in morning - noon daily, and one overnight as well.

But to get seats in season: you should board it from Peo, and reach substantially earlier than bus departure time. I have been on the route thrice, and didn't get a seat any time. Traveled all night standing/ seating on luggage.

Schedule here, but I'm not sure how frequently it is updated as per real schedule.

The point is Karcham. It is before the site of the Karcham-Wangtoo hydel power project while approaching from Peo. Yup, boarding from Peo is the only sensible option. There is a nice 2X2 deluxe (non-AC) around 6:30 or 7 in the AM from Peo.

Sangla-to-Shimla bus

Hi,

As per information from one thread from bcm, there is one bus from chitkul at 3-30/4 pm which go till Chandigarh via Shimla. (information as on oct. 2013)

The bus would pass from Sangla an hour later or so.

Also, try calling up: Reckong Peo (Kinnaur) tourist centre, Phone: 01786‑222897

Regards

Shimla to Sangla direct bus leaves at 7 am from ISBT Shimla. Else you can take buses going towards Kalpa / Recong Peo and get down at Karcham. From Karcham the road bifurcates to Sangla and you may get local buses or jeeps till Sangla. Karcham to Sangla would be around 30 km roughly.

Hi,

I am actually planning ofr Rupin Pass trek in June 24-July 2 timeframe.

My trek ends at Sangla and looking at the options we have, either we have to go to Dehradun/Chandigarh to take the flight to Hyderabad.

What are the best possible ways to reach either of those cities from Sangla Directly or with minimal hops.

I couldn't find any bus info in HRTC website for the return direction buses for Recongpeo-Shimla even though the shimla-recongpeo is there for booking.

Would love to hear from fellow members who already did this stretch to decide on the options.

Thank You,
Phani.

Re the flight to Hyderabad - you should completely forget about Dehradun as airport of departure, it makes absolutely no sense to go there. If not Chandigarh, then Delhi is the next best airport.

I am considering either options depending on the transport availability...

Chandigarh is the best option available and i do agree but i couldn't find any public transport options form Sangla to Shimla atleast in the return direction.

Shimla to Recongpeo HRTC are available but not the same case with the return direction.

we will be reaching Sangla by afternoon 2PM max...but then have to see how to return back to Chandigarh atleast so that i can plan for my return flight.
