Though I'm not specifically stating about Brightland Hotel, but generally that's the trend - the website prices are higher than when you're there negotiating face to face.
We stayed at Hotel Rajdoot and they asked for Rs. 600/- for a double room, which we bargained to 450/- in Nov'06. At that time, their official quote on paper was 1450/- ![]() And 4th Dec onwards still remains off season, unless it's starts snowing. In that case, you should expect some rush from nearby metros/big towns (eg, Delhi), and prices may vary. I would suggest that you talk to them, but do not commit - keeping yourself free to move to other hotels if they suit you.

Guys do you have any idea if one can go further into Spiti right upto Kaza, Kibber & Ki ? Also would Chandtra Tal be possible ? In Dec ?
Also details on public bus service in the region during that time instead of pvt car hire. thanks |

About Chandratal, it was pretty hard in Sep-end'09 (see here) - so I guess not a chance for you in Dec.
What I read and hear from people is that Kaza is reachable in Dec, subject to snowfall/road block/time in hand - though killingly chilly (take it seriously) - and rest is dependendent on weather. Quote:

Just returned from Shimla- Sarahan- Sangla- Kalpa- Narkanda trip between Oct 17 - 23 . My suggestions/inputs on various querrries
a) Hotel White , where I stayed on Oct 17 is on Lakkar Bazar , a five minuted walk to Mall Church end . They charged me Rs 1400/- plus 10% luxary tax for room with view and private balconey . The Hotel is bit sleepy as I could not find any Manager , in fact red uniformed waiters did everything from registration to payment . Hotel has no kitchen for lunch /dinner but serves tea and snacks . Now my few observations : a)Hotel is neat and clean with very good view from corner room 301 where we stayed .There are lots od provision and snacks store in surroundig but for lunch you will have to depend on few dhabas (Veg ) which are few minutes walk towards Mall . But if you want full course lunch you have to go to mall road (like ALFA )which is about fifteen minutes walk . b)Normally car drops you on road near steps which you have to climb followed by walk along steep road up to Hotel . It is very difficult for aged , particularly if some has knee problem . Porter is available , may charge Rs 50 to Rs 100 depending on load . Tips : you tell your car driver to drop in fron of Hotel Sarda , that way you will be able to avoid steps but still have take a steep walk up to Hotel , but that is bit comfortable To sum up Hotel White is comfortable with very nice view but requires physical exertion to reach from car access . On Vehicle Rate As per my information , Indica = Rs 1500/- Tata Sumo = Rs 2000/- per day Tavera = Rs 2200-2300 per day I travelled in Tavera which wasa very comfortable For Scorpio , a bit more than Tavera I trvelled just after Dewali , which is just after peak rush . So in Nov you can bargain both for Hotels and vehicles . |
