Could you get hold of an updated map from somewhere?

Hi
Hi,
Very difficult task indeed .... Maps usually are updated when the S.O.I takes a census and this usually happens once in five years ... however am sure the other publications should at least have a brief map out soon ... I use Leomanns (which are great for trekking). The other maps I bought once are The S.O.I maps from their shop at Janpath, New Delhi ... these are good but reletively old .... well you could suggest me more as even I am looking for some really good map for the region ... something else than Nelles and Leomanns ... cheers, dhananjay |

This is extremely good news because it means that the Kinnaur and Spiti distts will almost be connected 365 days.

WEll, natasha I did my trip recently in Sep'04 that side so if you want I have my own hand build ruff map to cover up the main road areas with precise distances and the road conditions mentioned.

Dhananjay, I am an aspiring amateur navigator
and I have found the outlook traveller maps to be fairly decent. You can check them out online too. I also carry with me the "Road Atlas / Guide" (most probably by TTK) which I have found to be very precise in terms of distance. (It helped me find an obscure lane in the middle of the night in complete darkness, just because the accurate distance was chalked out!)lovemax, thanks. That would be great. Can you scan yours and post it here? I am planning a trip to Leh in August 1st week this year. I will soon be posting my itinerary on IM for expert advice for the trip. I won’t be trekking, but even when you take your own vehicle out, a good map always helps. maybe I can meet Dhananjay in Shimla on my way up to Leh. ?? ![]() |

@ natasha : Check the map for spiti in my photograps section or search one under maps by keyword for Lahaul Spiti, this is from my trip last year.
Distances are precise. Can tell you about road conditions on strech as of last year. |
