Friends,
I am landing in Shimla on 22nd for a 3-4 day relaxed trip in the mountains. I am considering the options of either going to Fagu and staying at Peach Blossom or go to Kufri and stay at Pacific. Anyone with prior experience, please help me out with this decision, as I don't have much time left to decide. |

Kufri is very crowded, and if its snows then you it gets even worse. So if you are looking at if from the point of "seclusion" i would suggest Fagu...

Any time it has to be Peach Blossom though no bar at the hotel. There is a wine shop in the Fagu bazaar and you can always say cheers..!!

Thanks Vasuki a ton..Now the next problem is I am only getting the 1400 Rs DBR and not the 1600 Rs one..I am not sure what the difference..I hope the 1400 one is a valley facing one too...Can you throw some light on what is the difference between the different tariff rooms?

Ive stayed in Hotel Peach Blossom, Fago. It is a very nicely located Hotel on top of a hill, with 360 degrees views of the mountains. The rooms are spacious. I stayed in the suite on the top floor. It was really big with 2 double beds, and a great view from the window. The service is a little lax, as it is after all a HPTDC govt outfit. They have nice lawns and we enjoyed having breakfast in the Lawns. Here are some pictures : |

Hi
I have stayed in a valley facing room and the views were great. I stayed in winters there and had a beautiful view of sunrise. Also the valley view is great. Now the problem is I don't remember how much I paid for this room. ![]() You can call up the hotel at 01783-239469 and check with them. |

It will probabaly be the room in the first picture. It's been snowing heavily for the last few days in the upper reached of Himachal. Please check out the road conditions, weather and the accesibility before you leave for Fago. Last year a group of tourists were badly stranded in snow in Fagu and Kufri. They were finally rescued by the army. It's not a pleasant experience if there is heavy snowfall, the light goes and there is little to eat. I don't want to scare you, but just that you should be careful. Styler |

I am landing in Shimla via the toy train in the first week of Jan and then plan to hire a local cab to Fagu..Would this be a problem too? I plan to stay there for about 3 nites. Any suggestions from experienced ppl would be a big help. Quote:

hey,
peach blossom is a good choice since Kufri would be very crowded. As for the wine thingy you might wanna carry since its pretty expensive up here. i remember getting a bottle of vodka(small one) for about 700 bucks which doesnt make sense. The beauty of the area increases exponentially if it snows...else its just like any simple hill station you could have a look at some of our fagu pics http://picto-blog.blogspot.com/2007/...elf-happy.html |
