Palampur

Hi,

I am student planning to visit Palampur, then Manali end of June 09. Can someone tell me -

1. Cheapest way to reach Palampur from Delhi
2. Where to stay in Palampur for free or very little!!
3. How to get to Manali from Palampur.

I am planning to do the Basic Mountaineering Course in July at ABVIMAS, Manali.

Cheapest way to reach Palampur:
1. Catch state transport bus from ISBT Delhi.
2. Board Delhi - Pathankot train. The cheapest one leaves Delhi at 8 am & goes via Amritsar to reach Pathanot around 6 pm. Palampur is 115 km from here.Get Bus or narrow gauge Train from Pathankot to Palampur. Railway station is 7 km away at Markanda OR you can get down at Baijnath & after visiting Old Shiva temple, come back to Palampur - 16 km

All types of accomodation is available at Palampur. Yes, you can get it for as low as Rs. 350/- per day. Just explore in the market area. A very safe place.

Have you heard of a village called Kanwari close to Palampur on Palampur Baijnath road ? I need to visit this place too. Ever heard of it ? Any info will be gratefully accepted. Thanks!

I've not heard about such village, may be you are speaking about Kiori, which has a tibetan temple. But Kiori is near Bir in Baijnath Region.

The name of the village is Kandwari.

Being in Palampur I have seen a bus to Manali via Mandi.
