Palampur -barhmour road ? fact or fiction

Does a motorable route directly connecting palampur to Barhmour bypassing chaba exists ? i am confused as one map shows a road but the other doesnot.
i am sure some one can clarify the confusion.

Secondly kindly do advise me regarding accomodation at barhmour.

thanks in advance.

Road from Palampur to Barmour via Holi was planned by Govt. to bypass chamba, I think in 2008, but no idea weather the same has been constructed yet or not.

It is our politician's fantasy here in Himachal. They are considering constructing a tunnel from Kangra to Holi. Newspapers are full of this story but I guess it will meet the same fate as the railway lines in Himachal have met. They still are the same as the Britishers left way back in 1947.

A new railway link has been cleared from Bhanupalli (Near Ropar) to Bilaspur but when will it be constructed no one knows. The leaders here are demanding it to be extended till Manali and then to Leh... Probably some day to Lahasa and China and then to Singapore and Hongkong!!

No harm in day dreaming..

If China can make a rail link between Lassa and Qinghai (1142 Kms) on the top of the world, then why cann't India. If Britishers can build rail link to Shimla and to other mountain cities before 1947, we can certainly reach Leh.

Railway is saying that the project is not commercially viable. But is commercial aspects are sole deciding factor in linking the mountain cities?

Well, you have to draw a line between environment and development. If you say environment only, then one should avoid building roads also. And railway is more environmental friendly than roads.

Rail connectivity will boost the tourism industry, the main income generating source in these mountains, and industrial development also.

Agreed ; to my mind it is a fine balance which is always difficult to achieve but I cant sit in a AC office, car, home in Mumbai and wish that all the hilly regions remain rustic so that I can spend 3 weeks holidaying in the hills.... having said that the terrain in Tibet which is a high altitude plateau and Himachal is different, to much of blasting will only spoil the environment and evenetually hit the locals the most

All ready we are paying the price of tunneling the rivers. All the electricity being consumed in the cities is coming at a terrible environmental price!
