need some informations about manikaran

Hi There,

I wanna go up to Kullu Valley, to Manikaran in about 3 weeks,
did anybody khow about the weather up there at this time? Did anybody know a cheap, quiet nice place to stay?

The weather should be good at that time,pleasantly warm through the day, shirt or jumper at night. There are lots of decent cheap places in Mani from 1-200RS some with natural hot baths from hotsprings Padha family g/h is ok & a few others opposite this one are of same standard. I prefer the outskirts of Kashol for RS70 you can chillout somewhere like here in the middle of apple orchards:

hey kullukid, that was a great link "living in a small town..."
got so many informations, this is really a great side,the guesthouse seems like exactly what i am looking for....
you also travelled other regions in the himachal pradesh? can you recommend me another place up there in the mountains?
the last time I was in the North I visited only Rishikesh and the
Chamba Valley....(also really great, I stucked there about 6 weeks)

In the Parvati valley you could visit Pulga,Rasol & Malana these are all fairly rustic off the road places with cheap accomo to match. Here's a few pics of Mani & Parvati:

Heading further up the Kulu valley you could check out Nagar for a night or so The Alliance G/H is good & cheap run by a French guy with an Indian family.
In Manali the Sunshine G/H is good. Here's some photo's of it:

On your way out of the valley you could visit the Buddhist area of Rewalsar Lake ihour by bus from Mandi & take a ride up the hill to see Padmasambhavas Cave: Here's some pics:

From here you could head for Dharamsala/Mcleod ganj, but if you want to be out of the way then head up for Dharamkot, although personally i prefer Bhagsu a small village between Mcleod & Dharamkot. Here's some pic's:

Yes- rishab is right when he refers to landslides as section of this road is little bit hanky panky but places like KASOL are real cool place to live.

Avoid being present in drug scenes.

Just a question- How crowded is Manikaran in May?.
Are excursions up valley safe for a couple with a small child?.
I am planning a 2 week to Himachal next May and am hovering betweeb Kinnaur and Kullu

hi manikaran is a good place surrounded by small villages which are really beautiful you will find economical hotels there are many hotels in manikaran which offers hot water bath with natural hot water spring it may be little dirty as they dont maintain it but at some places its relaxin dont forget to visit choj chalal kalga pulga kasol and if you can afford 2 hrs of trek dont forget tosh its amazing

i suggest you stay at Kasol and use it as a base to check out Manikaran. No shortage of hotels in Kasol.

Hey kullu kid the guest house u mentioned with the photo in kasaul,is there a parking nearby ,,,,,,, we r travelling by car and would want to keep the car in sight ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, and going through all these posts i have some good places in my itineary,,,,, really very exited should be there on 26th dec,,,,,,,,,,,,, any body from the forum planning to be there at the same time will surely meet up,,,,,,,,,, cheers

The G.H is in Kashol in Parvati valley not Kasauli, not sure which you meant by "Kasaul"? You could park on the main (only) road below the GH, but you would not be able to see the car, the GH is up the hill set in orchards. If you did mean Kashol then there are quite a few GH's by the river with parking.
