You go upto Kalka by train. take the toy train to Simla. You can spend 3 - 4 days. Visit the nearby places and temples. It you want you might visit Mani Karan.
Then go to Manali. You can go to Lauhal & Spiti. Also you can go to Janskar valley. If time allows you can go to Delahousi. From Delahousi you can also go to Vaisno Devi. Or you can take a bus to Delhi. |

Himachal is not plains of your city where you can go from one point to other by simply taking a straight road. This is a Hilly area, where you need to see connectivity between two destinations. As sometimes some roads lead only to perticular part of this region. Himachal tourism board has divided it into circits. There are mainly three circits for regular tourists. I think Manali, Kangda and one more circit. Since you boys are from Culcatta. First reach Shimla and then I would advice you to first start with Manali circit which includes Dhramshala, Mecleodgunj, Kullu, Manali and Rohtang Pass. If still have time than while returning Dharamshala to Dalhousie & Khajiyar. Sorry for any typo as I am feeling really sleepy now. |

Hi
I have covered some portion of Himachal Pradesh. My itenary was : 1) Howrah->Chandigarh(By Kalka mail) 2) Chandigarh -> Simla Stay@Simla 3) Simla -> Kufri ->Naldehra -> Simla Stay@Simla 4) Simla -> Manali Stay @Manali 5) Manali -> Manikaran -> Manali Stay@Manali(goes via Kullu) 6) Manali -> Rohtang Pass -> Manali Stay@Manali 7) Manali -> Chamunda(Near Dharamsala) Stay @Chamunda 8) Chamunda -> Dharamsala & Mcleodganj -> Jwalamukhi Temple -> Chamunda Stay @Chamunda 9) Chamunda -> Dalhousie Stay@Dalhousie 10)Dalhousie -> Khajjiar -> Dalhousie Stay@Dalhousie ------------------------------------------------------ (Also covered the following places) 11) Dalhousie -> Amritsar Stay @Amritsar 12) Amritsar -> Wagha ->Amritsar 13) Train to Howrah(Amritsar Mail) You can't cover the whole Himachal in one shot. You can plan for the above places what i mentioned. (It belongs to the Simla-Kullu-Manali circuit) There is another region in Himachal.(Lahul-Spiti-Solang circuit) It depends upon how You want to organize Your trip. I will suggest to cover the Simla-Manali Circuit first. Hope it will help.. thanks Debajyoti |

yes, it's better to have a concrete plan and then deviate from it, rather than not having any plan at all
