Nagar or Manali ?

Hi

I will be driving from Delhi to Leh in July and have to make an overnight stop in Manali. I was told that Nagar would be a etter option, hence I need some advice It is just for overnighting, does it come enroute to Manali? Any good places in Nagar?
Some input will be highly appreciated
Thanks

Naggar's about 20 km or so before Manali and is much quieter and less developed. It's a beautiful place.

I stayed at the Sheetal Hotel for a week or so last year.

Very nice - lap of luxury by my normal standards. There are much cheaper places in Nagar if that's what you're after, but Sheetal's a good option if you fancy splashing out on a room with it's own bathroom, balcony and telly.

I'd recommend staying for a few days in Nagar if you've got the time as the walks in the woods with views of the mountains are stunning. There's also the Roerich gallery and the Krishna temple to visit. It's a lovely place; very quiet and relaxed.

It depends what you're looking for in a place to stay - the hustle and bustle of a busy hill resort (Manali) or the quietness of a hill village (Naggar).

We've also stayed at the Sheetal Hotel and a couple of times at HP Tourism's Naggar Castle Hotel.

If you're going to Naggar you will have to turn off the main road at Patlikul.

From Naggar you can proceed directly on to Manali the next day, only adding a few kilometers to your journey.

Shimla's right. It's really beautiful around there.

I took this photo about halfway up the hill from the junction at Patlikuhl. The further up you get, the more spectacular it becomes. The view from the balcony at the Roerich gallery is something else.

Next time I go, I'm hoping to do the trek up to Rumsu and then over the Chandrakhani Pass to Malana.

Im planning to go to Naggar mid June once I have visited Corbett. It will only be for 2 days unfortunately. How would you guys recommend I travel there once I have been to Corbett? WHat are the costs etc... and one last thing, how will I get to Amritsar afterwards?
