Motorcycle trip to Sarahan and Sangla Valley
Motorcycle trip to Sarahan and Sangla Valley
Hi friends, my friend and I are planning to go to Sarahan and Sangla valley on 26th of June on our Pulsar 180’s. We will be starting from Delhi and we will have five days four nights for the whole trip and our main aim is to explore as much as we can on our bikes (both of us don’t like trekking too much, happy with our bikes
). The first night will be Sarahan or it might be Sangla in case we decide to skip Sarahan. Nither of us has done a trip to Sarahan or Sangla, however we have done 4-5 bike trips to hills (including giri-ganga, rohrau, rohtang pass etc.). also considering we will start from delhi on day one and need to be back on day five, can we do kaza and other areas of spiti valley? How are the road conditions there? We will be traveling on low budget, so plz do give us suggestions as we are confused regarding what all places we can visit during this trip.

Hi,
XBHP again ..... First the route .... Lets make it the old HT road trip .... super ... wild ... just made to ride ...
Delhi - Chandigarh - Kalka - Kasauli (Take the backroad that climbs from near the main petrol station (opposite HRTC workshop in the main bazaar)
Delhi - Kasauli - 282kms
Kasauli - Garhkhal - Gambhar pul - Subathu - Solan - Gaura - Chail (a long day however folowing the giri river is a great ride) 89kms
Chail - Kufri - Narkanda - Baghi - Khadrala - Sungri - taklech - Nogli - Rampur
168kms
Rampur - gaura - Daranghati - Kinnu - Sarahan 63kms
Sarahan - Jeori - Taranda Cliffs - Wangtu - tapri - Karchamm - Sangla Valley - Batseri - rakchamm - Chitkul 152kms ...
I am sure this should be a great ride ... make the first night halt at Subathu.
The second ideally should be Baghi, but I am sure its a good ride to Sarahan.
Third day at Sangla and on to Chitkul ..
Anyways Ride on .... Happy trippin
Cheers,
Dhananjay

@dhananjay thanx for ur reply
, btw xBhp(bunny) is not going with us this time (poor soul is in Pune now and missing the hills
). coming back to the trip, i guess our first night stop will be at Sarahan, since its 530kms according to ur route and for us is an easy target (we usually do Delhi=Manali 570kms in less then 12hrs
). also we had done Chail in December last year and we also did the route of Rohru-Batshal pur-Baghi-Narkanda route on our last trip 18 days back and I am guessing it’s the same route? It will be a dream to ride on those same roads again. Now if we reach Sarahan by evening on the first day, I guess we will be able to do the sight seeing and exploring Sarahan Valley the next day and still manage to reach Sangla by night fall. Now once we are in Sangla we will have 2 days, I want to spend the forth night in Theog, Kufri or Chail as this will greatly reduce the amount of time we need to spend on road on the last day. Although we are equally comfortable doing 500-600kms on that last day, if there is lot of places to explorer in Sangla or even move further, as we don’t mind spending 14-16hrs a day on road
. Hoping to have a even better trip then the last time.

Waiting for response and suggestion from all

Agree with Dhananjay that the second halt should be at Sungri or Baghi and then on to Sangla valley. Made a similar trip few days back.
As for Sangla Valley, my preference would be to stay at Kinner Camp, excellent location and the owner Pradeep Negi is fantastic. The camp is midway between Batseri and Rakchaam. Views from the camp is excel....A local, he would take you to the glaciers and the trek to Vishnu Kanda or trout fishing, if you need to. Would recommend at least 4 days stay.

Hi,
Hi,
Pradeep, Shiv singh, Anil, Sunil all are great people at Kinner camps ... The best location in the Sangla valley .... As for the Chail route through Gaura after solan it is one great ride ... I dont know if you did the same one tiger ... As for discovering around Sarahan ... Personally I feel there is nothing kmuch to do ... The ride from Rampur upwards to Gaura, Kinnu, Daran Ghati is interesting with a Superb cliffside to it .... Also if you want to Miss the Baghi to Taklech-Nogli section you could take the backroad from Thanedar and reach Rampur and continue .... I would recommend going upto Chitkul and also riding to Kalpa especially the Roghi cliffs ... Lets see if the Pulsars can handle the thermals ....
Cheers,
Dhananjay

Be warned about driving the village road stretch after Roghi. I was there and had to retreat as the boulders on the mud road have blocked the road up to Shoghi Rest house. Of course a new hotel 6 rooms is being constructed at Roghi. Basic facilities now since the opening is stated for October 05.
@all thanx for all the suggestion, but for now the trip has been put on hold!
got some work to do b4 i can do this. however i will try to do this stretch while going to leh and try and cover as much of spiti valley as well.
