Hello Pals,
I have been a great admirer of Hills & love the state of HP & Uttaranchal. However I wonder which could be the most scenic place in these states, pristine beauty is what I mean in terms of Snowy peaks, green grasslands with Pine trees & a wild river gurgling around & all what u hear is d chirping of birds...........Heard that this kind of place is near Manali, some village shot in Movie Krrish. Most importantly this place should b a lil away from d hustle n bustle of a city.I hope this thread would instigate many of us to breath in that tranqil, lovely place in coming days.Do accompany your recommendation with some pics & stay options if possible. My recommendation: Sangla Valley, stay at Banjara Camps(throw som light) ALL THE BEST.......GO AHEAD!

Should not you replace Deodar for pine trees in your OP?

I think Himachel has similar greenery to Uttarakhand and there, there is a mixture of both Deodar and pines ( in fact a deodar tree is a cedar tree not a pine). About five years since I was last in Himachel, but I recollect a variety of trees.
Whilst it is not entirely isolated I liked Dalhousie - and I suspect that there are some good places a little more remote but accessible from Dalhousie which would be nice to stay.

It's good that you specified what you mean by "pristine beauty" because your definition differs somewhat from what other people (e.g. I) might imagine when they hear "pristine". As long as you look up - to the snowy peaks or tree tops, or as long as you close your eyes and just listen to the birds and the gurgling river, you will be OK. As soon as you look to the ground, however, you will find that the wild, gurgling river or the green grasslands (and the deodar forests) are littered with garbage. I'm not sure if there is in fact any place in India where nature has not been littered with garbage. If there has been any human being before you, s/he will most likely have left garbage. Very, very sad.

Still I guess the beauty I am reffering to must be somwhere in Kashmir, which still has some explorable stuff left though disturbed from quite many days. I mean the real Kashmir........Paradise on earth! Nice one bro......saw the pics! Last edited by Aishah : Sep 13th, 2009 at 09:51. Reason: merging posts |
