McLeodgunj or Dharamsala?
Which one will be a better/convenient place to stay -- Dharamsala or Mcleodgunj?
How much can a taxi cost from Dharamsala to Amritsar ? |

Where will you be spending your time?
I was only in McLeod Ganj and found it convenient to stay there, especially if you plan on spending most of your time there. It may seem like a short distance, but you're ascending up a mountain path, so it's not very easy nor quick to do so.
I loved waking up at my own leisure in McLeod Ganj and having Tibetan tea with a great view. I hated the dogs there, though. They love to bark at eachother from across the valley, and it echos across the mountain walls. Bring ear plugs if you sleep lightly. I didn't take a taxi, nor do I remember the cost of the bus coming from Dharamsala, but I found it to be reasonable for India. A lot of people take a bus from McLeod Ganj to Delhi, and all the rates seem to be the same. Which is nice. Just ask around, you'll get a good feel for it. Just know that it's a rougher ride coming down from the mountain than it was going up, so I recommend getting a ticket for the bus further in advanced and sitting towards the front of the bus (or sleeping towards the bus, though you'll have to share). Good luck and bon voyage! |

Thanks a lot..... Actually I plan to stay in Dharamsala/Mcleodgunj for 3 days. As its my honeymoon trip, so I would obviously want the normal peaceful and good scenic stuffs around.

Yes mcleod anyday. even bhagsu. and i believe its the noddy lake not dal lake (unless mcleod has its own dal lake which i confess i know not about). i would err in favour of bhagsu than mcleodgunj.

Believe there is a Dal Lake - full of carp and giant goldfish - gentle hours walk from DS - take some bread for the fish.
