Definitely not!! You don't even need airconditioned rooms in summer there!! I'm surprised they are even offering them. If anything you can ask for a little heater

Hi, I too will be visiting Dharamsala in November or December. Still planning though.

Kind of nervous cause most probably i'll be travelling alone, before, during or after my stay in New Delhi as intern for my exchange programme.

Hope that can join you all to have a joyful trip

Sure Eeyean, we will all keep in touch and meet up....

Miki, you can buy all kinds of knitted clothes in Mcleodganj, and at very cheap prices.

I will be there 4 days, Nov 21-25th.

Planning to trek to Triund on one of those days.

Shivani, (off topic), but is it worth getting a pre-paid India sim card for 2 weeks? thought you would be the best person to ask

StarEmperor, if you have family back home that may be worrying about your safety, then for their sake, you may as well be always contactable. It takes about 20 minutes to sign up the paperwork. You will need a photocopy of your passport and visa and a passport photograph. I got an 'IDEA' sim card in Delhi. The way it works in India, once you leave Delhi, or whichever place you signed up, you go on roaming charges, both for outgoing and incoming calls. So, keep all calls short! It's not terribly expensive anyway.

Miki, you love Australia? I love Italia.. :-)

Thanks Shivani i was wondering if there were roaming charges once you left Delhi, but good to hear its not expensive.

Miki thats a shame you wont be there at that time. I am off to Indonesia - Bali tomorrow, so i keep telling my friends & family if i make it to Italy by the end of the year I would have done my own version of Eat, Pray, Love this year I don't like my chances but one day I hope i will make it there too If you go to Western Australia you have to go to Karijini, it is one of my favourite places on earth, you will love it.

The Norling Guest House is really wonderful but it's quite a way out of McLeod Ganj - about a 20 minute taxi ride. It's at the Norbulingka Institute (which I'm sure you know), which is very interesting and a beautiful setting, but not particularly convenient if you are attending a teaching or want to be doing other things right in McLeod Ganj.
