Manimahesh Lake trip in December 2007
Hi trekkers,
I am planning to make a trip to Manimahesh Lake, in Himachal's Chamba district. This trip will start from Delhi on 20th Dec night and end on 25th Dec. We are going in cars to Bharmaur or upto Hadsar and then planning to trek to the Holi Lake. I want other trekkers' experience on this trip. I mean suggestions to make this trip more enjoyable. We are 9 people from Delhi, all male, age between 24-34. So, looking forward to get your useful information and experience and tips for the trip. Sincere regards, SKD New Delhi |

I have done Manimahesh. I dont want to discourage you but I dont think that it will be doable at this time because of the facilities enroute are temporary during Yatra days only. The area will be under think tiers by now.

I agree with karnail. I doubt, if any facilities will be available enroute.

Can I get trekking equipments like good shoes, tents, potters etc on rent? I too, am not sure we would reach till the lake coz Bharmaur itself experienced one snowfall till now. But we had a plan to move to the lake and make till it's safe. May be upto Hadsar or upto Dhancho. I seek experts' view on this. Thanks in advance.

I have been to Bharmour and Hadsar in December in 2005. From Hadsar we trekked part of the way to Dhanchow. But beyond that the route was snowed out. And I am no fan of snow. So we turned back. Also, the weather was dicey and it threatened to snow anytime. So, the guest house guys had also told us not to venture too far. Up to Dhanchow the way is clearly marked, so we walked on our own.
Some more details and images are here. The best place to stay in Hadsar is Shanti guest house and the best place to stay at Bharmour is Rajdhani guest house. Both are very basic and very cold. Last edited by mridula : Dec 8th, 2007 at 11:12. Reason: Typo |
