Manali during diwali 2008

I have a set of questions:
1) For a trip of shimla & manali, whats the ideal breakup of no of days?
2) Whats the best time to start bookings? Diwali 2008 is around last week of October. Will it be overcrowded?
3) Suggestions for lodging in manali? mid budget.
4)Rohtang and keylong, will they be open during that time?

Hey can anyone please suggest me on the above queries? It would be really useful... i havent ventured to HP before...

1. How many days do you have in hand, say Delhi to Delhi?
2. Early Oct will be fine. And even without a booking you'll still get accom, no problem.
3. There's LOTS of info in this and the Hotels sub-forum. Do take a look,
then if you have specific Qs feel free to ask again.
4. If Rohtang is open, Keylang is open

. Most likely yes, altho no one can guarantee it. Usually the pass closes for the winter in early/mid Nov. It'll be very cold at night in Keylang though, specially for someone from Ahmedabad not used to northern winters. Bring plenty of warm clothing.

I do have say 8-9 days delhi 2 delhi....
Winter not a prob... used to winters in scotland & newcastle -10 degrees

Will have a look at the hotel sub forum and get back.

Ok, so 2 days travelling, make that 3 days Shimla and 4 days Manali.
