Lahaul Spiti and Kinnaur trip June 2009

1. Me and three other guys did the Lahaul-Spiti-Kinnaur trip by road in a Mahindra Scorpio.
2. Here is our itinerary:

July 3: Start from Delhi, night in Swarghat in HPTDC hotel
July 4: Reached Manali, stayed in HPTDC Hotel rohtang Manalsu
July 5: Started from Manali, crossed Rohtang pass and camped ahead of Gramphu
July 6: Went to Chandra tal, night in HPTDC Hotel in Kaza
July 7: Night in Kaza in HPTDc Hotel
July 8: Night in Sarahan in HPTDC Hotel Shrikhand
July 9: Night in Kalpa in Hotel Golden Apple
July 10: Night in Shimla in Holiday Home
July 11: Returned to Delhi

3. This was our second time on the trail (and also post our 2005 Leh road trip) so we were fairly familiar with the terrain and it peculiarities.

4. We were pleasantly surprised to discover the beautiful Kalpa which offers beautiful greenery and awe inspiring views.

We want to drive the same tour next june/july 2010. I've got some trouble to rent a 4WD selfdriving to do this trip.
Did you drive your own car or did you hire one. In that case, would you have any recommandations to help me to ask quotes to some car hire companies and from which city.

When you are familiar with the area, I am sure

1. You have mistakenly put the schedule of July 8th and 9th as ofcourse you are not back tracking to Kalpa from Sarahan.

2. You intentionally put Chitkul (Sangla Valley) out of your itinerary. That is one of the best place in Kinnaur.
