Kullu in January...?

Yearning to get back to the mountains... summers are too far away...!!! Anyone knows what the Manikaran / Manali / Kasol scene is like in Mid-January??? Will the guesthouses / lodges be open...? Will the trek route to Tosh be possible...?

Looking forward to some assistance

Manali, etc. will be pretty chilly in January. Excess snow may cut off some routes / approaches at times.

It is best to find out the weather and climatic conditions on the eve of your visit.

Weather in Himalayas-in winters

SHIMLA is right -you can check climatic conditions when you are going there.
Hotels are no problem anywhere.
You can go without any problem to Pulga and with some local guide-you can go to Kheer Ganaga.

DO NOT USE DRUGS !
You may land up in trouble !!

Hi Vishant,
i've been to manali in january and the snowfall is heavy at times and the roads might be cutoff for a few days.you cannot go beyond solang and kothi as the whole area would be snowed down and kheerganga is out of question,i inquired about trekking in jan but everyone's answer was in negative.most of the smaller hotels and guest houses are closed, but mid range and upper range hotels give a lot of discount, you would get a decent accomodation for 400-500 rupees, old manali was completely closed at that time.

the best time would be from january last week to feb mid,as the roads a re open and you get ample snow to ski in solang and kothi.

Hi Suresh,
u wont find any crowd in feb except for a very few honeymooners.
the climate would be pretty good in daytime but it might reach to freezing point in night, but no problems all the hotels have heaters so if you dont go out in the night you wont even experience the cold.skiing is very much possible for you as they do have a beginners slope and trust me it isnt tough as i myself learnt skiing in solang valley.
