U are definitely in the wrong sub-forum! Look in the Himachal sub-forum, url get all your info there.
If u want to go to Manali, u'll be better off taking the train upto Chandigarh, not Kalka. Last edited by Dilliwala : Feb 29th, 2008 at 22:10. |

April is good. Can still get some rain. But more than likely just sunshine and blue skies.
There is a plethora of places to stay. All pretty good. Budget is 150 to 250 a day. |

U can still leave your ticket as it is and just get off at Chd, rather than bothering with changing it. U can make your onward arrangements to Manali ex Chd. I wud have even suggested getting off at Ambala Cantt had it not been for the 2.30 am arrival time there. DLI is Old Delhi RS. Mods, Please move this thread to the HP forum. |

Best way to manali
The best way to get to Manali is NIGHT SLEEPER BUS.
The government HPTDC (Himachel Pradesh Tourism Development Company)booking office near Jan Path Lane. It's costs $25.00 to have a sleeper bunk on one of their buses. They are the most reliable for leaving on time and not screwing up the bookings. It is a government bus, so they rotate the drivers and the buses tend to be in better condition. Private company sleeper buses can be cheaper. But they delay departures until they get full. And if they are not full, at Majnu Ka Tilla (outskirts of Delhi) they stop to try to collect more passengers. Time consuming. Also, bunks can be narrower on private busses. You leave around 6pm and get to Old Manali between 10am to 12pm. There are NO TRAINS TO MANALI because of the mountainous terrain. I think the closest rail link is Chandigarh. But from you can only bus from that point to Manali. Kalka is no where on the route to Manali. It is between Delhi and Simla (Simla ain't special). If you wanted to go from Simla to Manali...again another 8 or 10 hour bus ride. Last edited by manali4now : Mar 1st, 2008 at 00:43. Reason: Detailed infor provided |
