Kinnaur Spiti in Mid of November Hi, I am planning to travel "Kinnaur and Spiti" in the mid of November this Year. Our tour plan will be like this. Simla - Saharan(Night Stay) - Sangla(Night Stay) - Chitkool - Kalpa(Night Stay) - Tabo(Night Stay) - Kye - Kibber - Kaza(Night Stay) - Kunzum Pass - Batal - Manali This is a draft version. Will it be possible in the mid of November? Specially the Spiti Region i.e. Kaza, Tabo, Kunzum Pass. Will those places be open at that time? Any idea? Can you please give me contact no of any car rental agency in Simla? Thanks In Advance

well it is not official yet.....few days back the road was closed for nearly 10 days,,,,,and few NRI had a very bad experience and were rescued from a monastery .....you can still go but you do not have any margin in hand...it is not good time to go as it can be risky.....but if you are adventure crazy and can risk for fun....you can go....

brother the chances are very bleak....see man..impossible is nothing...but just think that what will you do if you are stuck in middle of road and cannot go forward or backward due to heavy snowfall..this has happened to me so thats why i am advising you not to take risk....unless and until you are a experienced trekker and can manage things.....one advice for you go up to rampur and from there try to grab information.....nothing can be said in advance...this is a very soft period and mother nature is unpredictable....the problem is not the destination but the problem can be in way as there are many passes on the way that start showing there tantrum after september

| This seemed ... non-conceptual. On the other hand the road has been cleared again. Obviously what happened a two weeks ago is not less possible now.

VIstet is right......generally the road is cleared in last few days so that some locals who want to go to lower areas can go and visitors can also go back....the road is open as till date now....as the route of Raid de himalaya was also same as of yours....but be careful...carry medicine and food for atleast two days......

Hi joie-de-vivre, Actually Kunal is stating the reality. You are right that same can happen anytime. But chances are more in this time. I am not discouraging you. Even I got some enthusiasm from your trip plan. Let's see how much The Himalayas allow us to cover. Can you please share your travel plan with me? Anyway Best of Luck for your journey. Regards Suman

I was in Kinnaur in mid-november, Sangla valley and Kalpa should be fine then but High altitude Spiti could be a problem and Kunzum would definitely be closed.

Yes, this is reasonable to expect - can go to Sangla and Kalpa. Rest (chitkul included) are likely to be closed to traffic.

according to this link, Rohtang is due to be closed after 1 November: http://www.tribuneindia.com/2008/200...imachal.htm#14 so the Kaza - Manali part won't be feasible anymore
