Kasol, Naggar and Malana day-treks...
Ciao!
I was looking for a word of advise on whether to pick Kasol or Naggar as HQ for a few days in order to move around the Kullu-Parvati valleys (we will have a car available)... I hear they are both exquisite and relaxing locations... I will be up there during the 3rd week of Sept.
Are Vashisht or Old Manali (Apple view guest house) comparable alternatives?
Also, are day-treks to Malana doable? Is it better to start from Kasol or Naggar ?
Any help will be much appreciated...
Thanks
Simone

kasol is nice.. but as HQ for walking ?? hmmm, --- but do me a favor, when you get there, go to "Lucky House" (last guesthouse down the road), and make a picture of a painting i made on the wall of the guesthouse 2 years ago... wonder if it's still standing upon the cliff.
cheers

Raison in Kullu valley is a good base for the trek to Malana via the Chandrakhani pass. However, this is a long trek !
Raison has good lodging facilities in the form of HPTDC's Adventure resort.
Katrain, where the valley is at its widest, is another good base with HPTDC's lodging facilities. Naggar is 5 kms. from Katrain, on the opposite side.
A faster way to reach Malana is to ride up to Jari and then trek to Malana. In this case the walk to Malana is 5-6 hours.

I would second Raison for excellent accommodation and that too with a wide choice.
The Universe is an ellipsoid?... or a Spheroid?? If the sphere smiles... it becomes an ellipse. This IS Creation.
