Considering the uncertainity in weather, please don't pre-book accommodation in any of these places barring Shimla. You would anyway get ample options during that time. This would make your trip flexible and incase you got stuck you can modify the plan on spot.
I too think Sangla valley would be difficult specially Chitkul, rest all should be possible in Mid November unless nature again gives another surprise.
Don't try to judge road condition there even a week in advance. One bad spell can ruin much of the infrastructure and being a lifeline, people restore them too in equally quick pace. Idea is to enquire about the stretch just before you start that leg. Keep a close watch on weather in IMD.
Cheers!!

You could replace Chitkul and Sangla with some other place. During the time of your visit the Lavi Fair will be going on in Rampur. You could spend a day there. You can also go to Narkanda.

yes, in a recent topic on Jara Parijayi i have read about the Great Himalayan NP.Give some idea of other places of attraction if for some reason i have to drop Sangla/Chitkul.

I didn't go upto GHNP and it might be closed as well when you would be going, so enquire before hand and for information there are few interesting threads in IM, give a search.
I stayed in Sairopa, (gateway of GHNP) FRH, excellent place to unwind yourself and just sit and relax by side of Tirthan river, you won't repent. See my trip report here for 25th/26th June and contact Forest Officer for reservation, contact given in post, I can say you would thoroughly enjoy

I will be posting my trip report soon....
And for the photographs (more than 10 GB I have shoot) I really don't know how to upload them in India Mike....someone may please provide necessary guidance.

Great Himadri, would look for your trip report and snaps ofcourse, it's not required to be uploaded in IM, you can upload any snap sharing site you like and share the link with us. IM is an option as well but may have restriction of number of snaps uploaded in a day. Also to put the snaps inside the post, there are a few tricks in terms of size limit etc. that I am also not aware of. May be someone else would be able to guide you here.

Trip report of shimla-chitkul-kalpa
Hello every body!
Hope all of you enjoyed your Christmas Holidays. I am back after a long days gap......
And here is my trip report....
We had the half-yearly tour to North Bengal (Kalimping-Rishop-Lolegaon) during the 1st week of June’2010 with my friend. And for the annual tour initially I have planned a tour to Kashmir. But the condition there deteriorated during August’2010 and I changed my mind. Then I thought of going to Kerala but the call of the mountain ultimately took my mind to Himachal Pradesh.
I quickly booked my train tickets.
The HP Tourism Office at Kolkata is at a stone throw distance from my office. I paid an after lunch visit there to discuss my route, accommodation and returned with a Guide map and brochures on accommodation of Himachal Pradesh. The help desk at HPTDC suggested minor changes of my routes which I accepted and incorporated in my itinerary.
But the high rate of accommodation at HPTDC Hotels depressed me.
The search began in the internet for alternative accommodation. And INDIA MIKE appeared like an angle with all-round solutions, throwing lights even on the never-through-of unforeseen problems that one may face during a tour.
The idea of trying my luck at HP PWD Guest Houses was gathered from IM. I contacted the PWD authorities at different locations over phone and faxed them my prayer for accommodation. I would like to thank all IMers, especially to Kousik Shil for their cooperation.
Ten days were left before my journey when the Media Report on bad weather at Rothang Pass and death of a lady at Kalpa made my parents nervous and no one encouraged me to proceed on the tour. I studied the situation unbiased, discussed the matter on IM, explored the weather forecast reports in numerous websites and made every one believe that weather condition being corrected….the period of unrest being over………and normalcy being restored.
to be continued.....
